ABT-418 is a selective neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) agonist developed by Abbott. It exhibits nootropic, neuroprotective, and anxiolytic effects and has been researched for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and ADHD.

ABT-418 selectively binds with high affinity to α4β2, α7/5-HT3, and α2β2 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors but not to α3β4 receptors. It has shown efficacy in improving spatial memory and reducing spatial discrimination deficits in preclinical studies. However, it has been associated with side effects such as nausea, and its clinical development remains uncertain.

ABT-418 is considered a potential therapeutic candidate for cognitive and attention-related disorders.
