28-Homobrassinolide is a phytosteroid that plays a role in cholesterol and glucose homeostasis. It has been shown to increase glucose utilization and the expression of ABCA1 and SREBP2 proteins in HepG2 cells.
Additionally, it decreases tissue glucose and cholesterol levels while increasing tissue hexokinase activity. In vivo studies on high-fat diet-fed C57BL/6 mice demonstrated that 28-Homobrassinolide reduces aortic fat deposits and serum marker levels.
This compound is derived from plants and has potential applications in metabolic disease research.
