Atosiban is a synthetic peptide and a competitive antagonist of the hormones oxytocin and vasopressin.
It is primarily used as a tocolytic agent to delay premature labor in pregnant women. Atosiban works by inhibiting oxytocin-mediated uterine contractions, thereby reducing the risk of preterm birth.
Atosiban was developed by Ferring Pharmaceuticals.
