Fisetin – (528-48-3)

Fisetin is a natural flavonol found in various fruits and vegetables, such as strawberries, apples, persimmons, onions, and cucumbers. It serves as a yellow/ochre coloring agent in plants and has been studied for its biological activities, including antioxidant, anticancer, and neuroprotective effects.

Fisetin is a member of the flavonoid group of polyphenols and was first described chemically by Austrian chemist Josef Herzig in 1891. It has been shown to inhibit pathways such as PI3K/AKT/mTOR, induce apoptosis, and act as a senolytic agent, reducing senescence markers and extending lifespan in animal models.

Fisetin is also a topoisomerase inhibitor and has anti-inflammatory properties, making it a promising compound for further research in aging and age-related diseases.
