GHRP-2, is a synthetic growth hormone secretagogue (GHS) that stimulates the release of growth hormone (GH) by acting on the ghrelin/growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR).
It is an orally-active peptide with the amino acid sequence D-Ala-D-(β-naphthyl)-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH2. Pralmorelin is used as a diagnostic agent for assessing growth hormone deficiency (GHD) and has been shown to increase plasma GH levels and induce hunger in humans.
It was investigated for treating GHD and short stature but was not marketed for these indications due to its reduced efficacy in individuals with GHD. GHRP-2 is a second-generation GHRP, more potent than GHRP-6.
