Ketanserin tartrate is the tartrate salt form of ketanserin, a selective serotonin receptor antagonist with weak adrenergic receptor blocking properties.
It is used primarily as an antihypertensive agent and cardiovascular drug. Ketanserin tartrate effectively lowers blood pressure in essential hypertension and inhibits platelet aggregation. It is well tolerated and particularly effective in older patients.
