The drug’s mechanism of action involves promoting the proliferation of neuronal progenitors in the hippocampus, which is linked to reduced anxiety, improved learning, and decreased hyperactivity in animal models. For Down syndrome, NNI-351 has shown potential in reversing cognitive deficits in mouse models by promoting new neuron growth in the hippocampus.
