Histrelin is a synthetic nonapeptide analogue of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) with increased potency. It acts as a GnRH agonist, stimulating the release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) from the pituitary gland. Histrelin is used to treat hormone-sensitive conditions such as advanced prostate cancer, central precocious puberty (CPP) in children, and uterine fibroids in women.
